Who is Grouchier? Oscar the Grouch or Maddy...

One of Madalyn's new favorite spots in the house is sitting on the ottoman in the living room. She thinks it's hilarious to be sitting up there, as you can see by the pictures (I think she also feels like "queen bee" up there :)) Next week we head to FL to visit my family - we are looking forward to some sun and warmth - it's been COLD and gray here. Maddy is looking forward to spending time with Grandma and Grandpa Myers, Grandpa Yankee and Granny Nan, and Uncle Darren, as well as her other friends she has down that way. This past weekend we took Madalyn to 'Sesame Street Live', which is exactly what is sounds like - it's a theater show with all of the Sesame Street characters performing a show. Well, Maddy loved parts of it, especially when they first came out and anytime they sang and danced. But I guess it's a lot to ask a 14 month old to sit still through a 90 minute show. Needless to say, we left after the intermission, but all in all it was a fun show and we'll definitely go again when Maddy is a bit older and has a longer attention span.

Maddy is saying more words these days, and can point out many more when we ask her where something is on the page of a book or in the room, etc. Her vocabulary so far: ball, da da, da deee, ma ma, bud deee (we think she learned this from us calling Wilson "buddy" a lot), "baaa" (when we ask her what does a sheep say), bye bye (while waving bye), hi (when she sees someone new or when she sees any kind of phone), and ohhhh (when she sees something interesting). She also loves to squeal loudly and sounds like a squawking bird when she's excited about something. She loves music and if we say "Maddy do you want to listen to some music?" she'll start bouncing up and down like she's dancing. She can identify lots of items now and if we ask her where something is she'll go get it and bring it to us. She gives hugs when you ask for a hug (so sweet!) and knows how to give high five. She's also discovered climbing onto just about everything - luckily she hasn't yet tried to climb out of her crib. It's amazing how much she is learning on a daily basis! The only thing she still hesitates on is walking without holding onto something. She can do it- she's taken steps on her own, but you can see her little mind at work and she's still a bit apprehensive. So for now she's just a speed crawler and gets from point A to point B in the blink of an eye - so quick!

Anyway, that's all for now - Greg is at the Bruins game tonight and I'm baking a turkey meatloaf that is just about ready...
