Dentist and Swimming Lessons
Maddy had her first visit to the dentist a couple of weeks ago. We decided to have her go to a pediatric dentist who specializes in kids and their office and staff are all geared toward making it a positive experience for the child. She did great and was so proud of herself. No cavities and very little plaque which was great to hear. She got a new Dora toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and a great big orange balloon, along with a picture of her smiling after they were done. She is also taking swimming lessons on Saturdays which she loves. She is now in the preschool class which means I don't have to get in the water with her anymore (not that I minded it but it is kind of nice just getting to watch her and not having to worry about getting my suit on, changing, etc). Her friend Annabelle is also in the class and it is held right near Starbucks so an added bonus is moms and daughters getting a treat after class :)
Caitlin is doing great and starting to roll over as well as sitting by herself. We will probably try some real food soon as well - maybe rice cereal first and see how she does. She is very interested in watching us when we eat. I can't believe she will be 6 months old in just a couple of weeks!
On Monday our big kitchen project starts. Well, it is big to us anyway, since we have really just done small projects like painting, new carpets, etc. This project involves a new layout in the existing space (no gutting or moving walls, etc). We are keeping most of the existing cabinets which will be refaced (new doors, drawers, and laminate over the existing cabinet frames) so they will look brand new. We are also getting a few new cabinets and removing some to make room for a new dishwasher, which we don't have today. The fridge is also moving to a different location, as is the stove. And we are going to have an over-the-range microwave (no more microwave on top of the fridge - yay!) All new stainless steel appliances and new quartz countertops. It will be a bit of a mess next week but should be done by the end of the week. it will be a nice layout with more counter space and more functional. Can't wait!
