Fun Filled Weekend
This past week we spent getting back into our normal routine, after returning from our VT vacation. Maddy missed her daycare pals so much that she decided she didn't want to nap and had total naptime of less than 1 hour each dat Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Needless to day, she was not in a good mood from the time we got her home until she went to bed. So Thursday I marched in there knowing that something had to change! It was good fortune that the director, assistant director, and Maddy's main teacher were in the infant room when I arrived. I learned that Maddy had napped for TEN minutes that morning... sigh... but then they moved her crib to the corner spot (best spot in the room) and she had an hour and a half afternoon nap, which is typical for her. I was happy to see that they had been proactive and also happy to have our jolly girl back that evening! It's hard when we don't get to see her all day and want to spend some quality time with her in the evening - she goes to bed so early (7 ish) so those couple of hours are priceless!
Maddy's had some issues with ear infections, having 3 in the last 5 months. We hope it's not a trend. The good news is that at her follow up appt last week, her last one had cleared up. She has her 9 month appt next week. She also now has 2 teeth - bottom front. They both came in around the same time, the second one just a week or so behind the first. She had a rough time when they were coming through the gums, but the tylenol seemed to help and the rough times seemed to be short-lived, at least for now!
This past weekend we went into Boston with Grammy and Grampy Mullen and Auntie Jenn and Uncle Shawn. We went on a Boston Harbor cruise and then to Pizzaria Regina in the north end for lunch. It was incredibly hot and humid but a really fun day. Madalyn was great all day - she loves to be out with lots of people and things to look at. Sunday Greg and I took Maddy to Topsfield for an Animal Planet exhibit which turned out to be a bust, so we drove to a farm/orchard in Ipswich and saw goats, pigs, ducks, horses and had ice cream. We put Maddy in the backpack carrier which she loves. She tried ice cream for the first time and thought it was quite tasty.
Madalyn is close to crawling but hasn't quite figured out the hand/leg moving together. She'll get up on all fours and rock back and forth. She is very good at scooting on her bum to get around though. Also, she is very intersted in standing and pulls herself up to standing whenver she can. It's only a matter of time before we have a mobile baby on our hands!
